Honeycomb: The World Beyond Hoverboard & Hover Buggy
The hoverboard
Frozen Way added it early to replace walking across varied terrain, with open admiration for Back to the Future: “Not going to lie - the cool factor was a thing.” It is a deployable: enable it from your equipment and keep it repaired.
Achievements: Hop on (craft it) was at 45.2% on 10 September 2026, and Turn right to go left (fall off it) at 39.9%.
Why it keeps throwing you off
The most common launch-week complaint about it: “even with the tiniest of bumps you get knocked off. hell, going over a rock will knock you off sometimes.” The Scarlet Seeker called driving it “a miserable experience” that “crashes into everything”, though still the way to cover long distances. What players do:
- Ride on paths (“roads”) and along shallow creeks, where the ground is flat.
- Get off before rocky slopes instead of trying to jump them.
- A player notes Frozen Way describes it as meant for flat terrain; an upgrade has not been announced.
Repairs
Carry a stack of fine maintenance kits. Alidove found that one restores the hoverboard from zero durability. Regular kits are for passive tools.
Tricks and races?
In the Gamescom 2026 interview, the product owner said the team was discussing time-trial races and Tony Hawk-style tricks with ramps and hoops. Kekbur is clear that Frozen Way did not promise them.
The hover buggy
The only standalone vehicle. You craft it after building the garage module in your base; Alidove notes “there’s nothing telling you that there is a vehicle option other than building the garage.” She did not find it more useful than the hoverboard. Frozen Way’s 2023 design notes describe a medium vehicle with cargo space and an electromagnetic drive.
Achievement: Speed. (“I am speed.”) for crafting the buggy was at 1.1% on 10 September 2026.
Camera
The game is first person, but the developer says there are “some moments of 3rd person for whenever you’re using vehicles”.
Faster than both
Later in the game, relay antennas double as fast-travel points, and the unstuck button already works as a free trip back to your pod. See biomes and zones for getting around.
