Honeycomb: The World Beyond Biomes & Zones of Sota7

The four zones

ZoneRiskTerrainLife
The ValleyLow risk. Recommended for initial orientation.Marshland, groves and dense forest; shallow waterways, branching channels and ground-level nesting sites.Rich and readable. Most animals are more curious than aggressive; marshy sections hold species found nowhere else.
The HeadlandsModerate to high risk. Proceed with preparation.Stone formations, constructed remnants, canyon passages and alternating elevation.More assertive predators and more exotic flora. The bulk of Sota7's surface area and most of its research yield.
The PassHigh risk. End-of-progression zone.Small but dense, between the uplands and more extreme ecological pockets.Fewer, more specialised species tied to late-game systems, including hybrids not available anywhere else.
Aquatic zoneUnder active survey.Shorelines and coastal crossings that link the three land zones, plus at least one fully submerged area.Transitional species influenced by neighbouring biomes. The rebreather extends underwater time.

Getting around

Biomes FAQ

How many biomes does Honeycomb: The World Beyond have?

Frozen Way splits Sota7 into four zones: the Valley, the Headlands, The Pass and an aquatic zone. The number of biomes inside them has two answers from the same product owner: 12 biomes, per Frozen Way product owner Szymon Szymaniak-Gnaś at Gamescom 2026 (Kekbur interview), and 'eight or nine' biomes, per the same product owner at Gamescom 2025 (GadarolTV interview).

Is there fast travel?

Yes, later. Relay antennas you build across the world move resources, power and water between bases and double as fast-travel points. Early on, the unstuck button sends you back to your landing pod or base in a few seconds with no penalty.

Where should I go after the Valley?

The Headlands. Frozen Way calls it the bulk of the surface and of the research, with more aggressive predators. The Pass is the end-of-progression zone.
